The Medical
Center Open Golf Tournament
20 years and going strong
Celebrating its 20th
Medical Center Open in 2011, The Medical Center
Foundation has scheduled its annual golf tournament on
Thursday, October 6 at Chicopee Woods Golf Course in
Gainesville.
The Medical Center Foundation Board of
Trustees has selected the Georgia Mountain Food Bank
(GMFB) as the beneficiary of the 2011 Open.
Tournament proceeds will fund the construction of
freezer and refrigerated space at the Food Bank’s
planned new facility.
A lack of on-site cooler/freezer space at their
current location has limited the amount of fresh produce
and meat that can be made available to those in need.
The new, permanent Food Bank home will greatly
improve hunger-relief efforts in their five-county
service area, where over 800,000 meals have been
distributed since the program’s inception in 2007.
Thanks to a generous supporter of the
GMFB, funds raised through the 2011 Open will be matched
dollar for dollar, providing a special opportunity for
tournament sponsorships to make an even greater impact.
Tournament co-chairs Pete Miller and
John Nix are pleased to partner with Wells Fargo as the
tournament’s premier sponsor for the 15th
consecutive year.
Wells Fargo’s continued support helps allow 100
percent of the golf tournament’s proceeds to go directly
to the Open’s beneficiary.
McGarity’s Business Products/Xerox Corporation is
also returning for the 15th consecutive year
as the Open’s 19th Hole Reception Sponsor.
Since
1997, more than $2 million has been raised for community
health improvement projects by The Medical Center
Foundation’s annual Medical Center Open Golf Tournament.
